Birth Plans & Overwhelm: How to Cut Through the Noise and Take Control

Pregnant woman using a laptop on her lap, displaying an article on exercising while pregnant. Sofa setting with a cozy, relaxed mood.

Remember when you thought you'd feel confident about your birth plan? When you imagined yourself making informed choices, feeling empowered, and totally in control?

Yeah… me neither.

Because the reality? One minute, you're casually Googling "birth preferences," and the next, you've got 47 tabs open, conflicting advice coming from every direction, and suddenly everyone (including your mother-in-law, your neighbor, and Karen from that one Facebook group) is an expert on YOUR body.

And then there’s the classic advice:

"Just go with your gut!"

Great. Except… what if your gut is currently tangled up in anxiety, self-doubt, and the overwhelming pressure to "get it right"?

Here’s the truth: There’s no perfect choice—only YOUR choice.

Birth isn’t about following some rigid, one-size-fits-all plan. It’s about making the best decisions for YOU, based on your needs, values, and instincts. And guess what? You're allowed to:

✅ Change your mind (because new info = new decisions) ✅ Ask as many questions as you need (no, you're not annoying) ✅ Ignore Karen from Facebook (because, seriously, who invited her?)

At the end of the day, this is your body, your birth, your experience. And yes, it’s completely normal to feel terrified while making these decisions—because they matter. But fear doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It means you care.

Ready to feel confident in YOUR birth plan?

You don’t have to navigate this alone. As an independent midwife, I’m here to help you cut through the noise, ditch the pressure, and build a birth plan that actually works for YOU. No more nodding along to advice that makes your insides scream HELL NO.

Your birth. Your rules. Your way
